THE NEED

Cape Town is home to over four million people and Khayelitsha is one of the largest and fastest growing townships in South Africa. We have been privileged to connect to and support Ikhaya Le Themba, a non-profit working primarily in the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town, for several years. Ikhaya Le Themba has long been committed to empowering and equipping the disadvantaged, through skills development, youth programs, community projects, orphans and vulnerable children outreaches, and enterprise development. The scope of their mission is massive and we’re excited to get involved on the ground-level. We hope to raise support to further their vision, while also personally working alongside them in the townships. The scope of their mission is massive, here is just a snapshot of what they do in a year:

OUR ROLE

Aside from being involved in a hands-on capacity in the operations, programs, and outreaches, we'll be able to assist Ikhaya Le Themba in the following capacities:

BUILD PARTNER RELATIONSHIPS: Partner relationships enable Ikhaya Le Themba to do their valuable work, so we're going to be a resource to them in fostering those relationships and investigating building new ones. We're going to optimize their involvement by meeting with partners regularly and assessing how best they can be involved, as well as handling the administration and logistics. This will free the IKLT team to focus more time on implementing their vision.

RAISE FUNDS: We've been raising money for Ikhaya Le Themba for years and have been able to see the direct impact of the effort. We've fundraised for equipment, resources, and training programs into other African regions. Being able to be involved in a hands-on capacity will give us even more insight into the needs of the ministry so we can raise awareness and support.

ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT COACHING: One of Ikhaya Le Themba's key motivations is to grow businesses to develop skills and provide income for the previously disadvantaged. We're going to be available to help grow these businesses, as well as advising and mentoring the beneficiaries.
